About Board Game Check

Board game rankings you can trust, suggestions that fit you, and a community that plays.

Rankings you can trust

Scores come from members' ratings and head-to-head matchups, pulled toward a fair average until a game has enough votes to stand on its own. Expansions are ranked apart from base games, and every ranking is recalculated nightly.

How rankings work →

Difficulty from real play

How hard a game is comes from players' votes and “which was harder?” matchups. A game nobody has rated says “Not rated yet”; we never guess.

Suggestions that fit you

“For you” combines players who rate like you with games similar to the ones you love, and says why each one is there. A two-minute taste quiz finds your player type and gets it started.

Where the games come from

Game facts start from Wikidata (CC0), the open knowledge base behind Wikipedia, and are completed by publishers, who can claim and update their own games, and by our editors. Covers come from Wikimedia Commons or the game's own publisher, credited on each game page. Nothing is scraped from other rankings sites, so what you see here is our members' own view.

Scores, ranks and suggestions are never for sale: nothing a publisher, venue or supporter pays for touches them. Supporter extras are cosmetic and Featured event placement is always labelled.
